Dale Chihuly's "Float" series, particularly the "Niijima Floats," are known for their large, spherical forms and blended color surfaces, often presented in groupings floating on water or within installations. The Niijima Floats most resemble lava bubbles or igneous rocks that have cooled from molten magma and retain sparkling inclusions of colorful minerals.

The vibrant matrix of lines of Floats conveys the energy, color, and luminosity of Chihuly's three-dimensional sculptures in glass. He also created vitreographs, prints on glass, that capture the essence of these floating forms.
